About Me

I'm a 24 years old Data Science Master student at EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) in the field of Data Science, passionate about algorithmic and Machine Learning. I’m ambitious and eager to learn, so I’m looking for an internship to put my acquired skills into application within a dynamic environment.
I do a lot of sports, web 3.0 investing and I like to travel and discover new places on my free time.

During these 6 years at EPFL, I had the opportunity to attend many interesting courses and work on some stimulating hands-on projects, some of which you will find in this portfolio, so enjoy taking a look at them.

Experience

Nestle Research and development

Data Science intern 02/2023 - now

In my current position as a Data Scientist Intern at Nestle R&D, I’m working on data processing and classification techniques that will help identify environmental conditions that associate with multiple phenomena of interest through advanced data analytics. My contributions have successfully improved previous predictions done by a consulting company through the implementation of new processing techniques and predictive pipeline.
I also Developed a website to facilitate the data analysis of microbiome datasets and perform AI predictions for microbiologists with non-technical background.
Key words: Python, Statistical modeling, Feature extraction, Machine Learning.

EPFL

Student Teaching Assistant 09/2020 - 12/2022

Assisted 100+ students to understand theoretical concepts of analysis and physics given to first year Communication Systems engineers and Micro-engineers , providing them with the necessary resources to improve their skills.

EPFL (Computer vision lab)

Research student assistant at CVLab 02/2022 - 06/2022

A project which aims to promote connectivity of linear structures in 3D microscopy images using the idea of snakes active contour model by having a loss that minimizes the energy, instead of using a normal loss that tends to not take connectivity into account unless annotations are perfect.

  • Tackled the problem of connectivity when segmenting linear structures in 3D microscopy images using Pytorch.
  • Processed neurons data and made the predictions which are distance maps using a U-net network.
  • Tested the effect of the segmentation task on neurons detection on Vaa3d using after some processing to overlap the prediction with the actual neuron image.
  • Implemented other state-of-the-art networks (ResUnet, Ce-Net...) using popular papers to assess their efficiency on our segmenting task.

  • Key words: Python, Pytorch, Deep learning

    EPFL (VITA Lab)

Research student assistant at Xplore 02/2021 - 06/2021

An interdisciplinary project which goal is to participate in two international competitions: University Rover Challenge in USA and European Rover Challenge in Poland.
My task was to tackle a new aspect of the stereo odometry challenge with 360o cameras, using convolutional neural networks in order to determine the position of the rover.
The project aims to leverage the power of machine learning to replace the very expensive Lidar with normal cameras in the odometry estimation.

  • Tackled a new aspect of the stereo odometry challenge with 360° cameras, using convolutional neural networks in order to determine the position of the rover.
  • Analyzed multiple papers to evaluate the existing methods.
  • Processed our dataset to match stereo camera images with LiDar output using Numpy and OpenCV.
  • Leveraged CNN and our dataset to create a depth map from stereo camera images (Pytorch).

  • Key words: Python, Pytorch, Convolutional neural networks, OpenCV, Numpy
